Hello everyone,
The NKC/NUCS will be doing something new for 2006—High Point Dog. We will be doing this for singles only this year, and if it goes well, we will put it in for the Amateur and Doubles for 2007.
This is how we will score High Point Dog for Flushing and Pointing Singles only. The last place dog in a trial will be awarded 2 pts. For every placement above the last place dog, you will add 2 pts.
Example: 5 dogs in the pointing singles, the 5th place dog will get 2 pts, 4th place 4 pts, 3rd place 6 pts, 2nd place 8 pts, and the 1st place dog will get 10 pts. We feel that this way, a dog that wins a bigger event will be rewarded more.
To win High Point Dog you must have at least one 1st place finish. In other words, if at the end of the year your dog has more points that any other dog, but does not have a 1st place finish, your dog will not be awarded High Point Dog.
In the case of a dog being entered in an event 2 times:
The highest placement will be awarded points for High Point Dog. The lower placement stands, but no points will be awarded for High Point Dog.
Example: 5 dogs in the event; the 4th and 1st place dog is the same dog, points will go like this—5th place 2 pts, 4th place 0 pts, 3rd place 6 pts, 2nd place 8 pts, 1st place 10 pts.
NKC will award prizes for High Point Dog at the National Finals Banquet in March 2007. The National Finals will not count towards High Point Dog.
